A soft layer of light-colored sand covered the floor of the Walter/McBean Gallery for Zonok Ben-David’s installation, Evolution & Theory. Literally hundreds of figures, delicately crafted from sheets of aluminum and wire, were placed like markers through the landscape. These strange drawings, seemingly cut and pasted from 19th-century how to manuals, floated like disembodied memories from a nostalgic past.
