Situations in Space: A Conversation with Karina Peisajovich

Karina Peisajovich was born in Buenos Aires in 1966. Her approach to art theory and practice began at the National School of Fine Arts Prilidiano Pueyrredón in 1984. Three trips have been crucial in her career. The first came at the beginning of the ’90s, when she visited the United States and Europe and came into contact with an art world that had once seemed so distant. In 1995, she participated in the Kuitca Scholarship, and in 1998, she started working with light. One year later, she made a second trip to the U.S. to participate in a residency for international artists at Art Omi. In 2001, she received an award from the Fondo Nátional de las Artes and the Fulbright Commission to participate in a new 18-month residency in New York, at the International Residency and Curatorial Program. She returned to Buenos Aires in January 2003, and she continues to live and work there.
