Seductive Mechanisms: A Conversation with Pablo Pérez Torres

Pablo Pérez Torres, who lives and works in La Plata, Buenos Aires, uses his sculptures and installations as vehicles to explore alternate realities, questioning human relationships as well as our connection to objects and technology. Employing a shock aesthetic that blends explicit references to carnal fantasies with perspectives that defy established conventions, his carefully crafted works initiate a challenging, ambiguous visual journey that refuses to let us remain indifferent.

María Carolina Baulo: The notion of alternate realities runs through your work. How do you approach that idea?
Pablo Pérez Torres: My biography is shaped by the influence of science fiction, music, music videos, video games, manga, and the dystopian worlds and apocalyptic futures of anime. This background has allowed me to develop a unique perspective on world-building. Strange bodies and entities play a crucial role in my creative process. . .
