Sarah Sze: Timelapse

New York

Guggenheim Museum

Through September 10, 2023

On the sixth level of the Guggenheim’s rotunda, Sarah Sze’s “Timelapse” features a string of site-specific installations created by the New York-based artist that address an image- and motion-saturated world, wherein the distinction between images and objects collapse. The new works are bookended by Sze’s first artwork to incorporate video (Untitled [Media Lab], 2016) and her immersive Timekeeper (2016) in the tower-level gallery. Made of discrete, recognizable things—tape, thread, printouts, ladders, paint—Sze’s constructions form a bewildering, and mesmerizing, whole.
