Executive Director’s Letter:
As we wrap up another year at the International Sculpture Center, we present our final issue for 2016. This year has seen some phenomenal artists working in new and exciting ways, pushing boundaries with materials and concepts, and this issue is no different. We have sculpture from around the world: Subodh Gupta and Valay Shende from India, Humberto Díaz from Cuba, Natalia Abot Glenz from Argentina, Gabriel Orozco from Mexico (and currently residing in Japan), and Ryszard Wasko from Poland. Their work ranges from assemblage to multimedia, to explorations of the possibilities of space and concept.
The ISC has been pushing boundaries, too, as we grow in ways that offer more to the field, better publications, more programming, more opportunities for artists and members, more on-line services and features, more events, and more exhibition opportunities and connections for everyone. A new strategic plan will help guide us to reach our potential and help you to reach yours. A new satellite office gives us space to expand our ideas and programming. See page 72 for some highlights from 2016 and a snapshot of what’s to come in 2017. None of this, including Sculpture magazine, would be possible, without your support and contribution. Please consider making a 100-percent tax-deductible donation on-line at www.sculpture.org.
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday and the best for the upcoming year.
