Executive Director’s Letter:
This issue of Sculpture spans a diverse array of three-dimensional art, from artifacts of meditative, responsive process and performance to abstract forms and contemporary takes on the figure, with features on Richard Long, Thai sculptor Pinaree Sanpitak, Robert Gober, Daisy Youngblood, Michael Esbin, Doug Jeck, and Virginia Maksymowicz. Plus: exhibition reviews and previews from museums, galleries, and sculpture parks around the world, with a listing of parks worth a trip this summer on page 68. If you want to read more about a variety of contemporary sculpture parks, check out the ISC press publication Landscapes for Art: Contemporary Sculpture Parks (available at www.sculpture.org). Back in April, International Sculpture Day was celebrated around the world, with thousands of people showing their appreciation for sculpture. Visit our Web site for a glimpse of some of these inventive events.
