The International Sculpture Center is proud to present the winners of the 2010 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Awards. This year’s program attracted a record number of nominees from university sculpture programs in North America and abroad. From a pool of 445 nominees from 176 schools, the jury selected 20 winners and 15 honorable mentions. Jurors for the program were Rocío Aranda-Alvarado, an associate curator of special projects at El Museo del Barrio in New York; Oliver Herring, an artist from New York; and Creighton Michael, an artist and visiting assistant professor of art at Hunter College in New York. This annual award was founded in 1994 to recognize young sculptors and encourage their continued commitment to the field of sculpture, as well as to recognize the award winners’ faculty sponsors and their institutions. The 20 award recipients will participate in Grounds For Sculpture’s Fall/Winter Exhibition, in Hamilton, New Jersey, from October 9, 2010 through January 2, 2011…see the entire article in the print version of October’s Sculpture magazine.
